The 12 Kits of Occasions - Teacher's Pet

It's the last day of the month.. you know what that means right? Time for The 12 Kits of Occasions! We're a group of 12 friends who love to paper craft. Every month we take turns providing the rest of the group with a kit. We all get the same thing.. and on the last day of the month we reveal what we made with the kit. It's fun to see how some of our designs look the same - and how others can look so very different.

Our theme this month is "Teacher's Pet" and our hostess is the fabulous Lisa Elton! You might know Lisa from her blog My Paper Tales.  Lisa put together this fabulous kit with sweet images from Precious Remembrance, Purple Onion Designs and Papertrey Ink.   There were pretty papers from October Afternoon, and die cuts from Pretty Pink Posh, Papertrey Ink, Impression Obsession, and the cutest Milk Carton from Lawn Fawn.

Lisa has a wonderful way of layering and adding the right amount of sparkle to all her designs!  Here's hoping I did her proud!

Ready to see more from the rest of the team? You can see a sample from each of the design team members here on THE 12 KITS OF OCCASIONS BLOG. You'll also find links to each of the designers (and our special guests) and a complete ingredient list for each of the kits.

We're wanting to include YOU in our monthly posts and just about every post this year has had a give away of a kit so you can play along. Check out the blog to get all the details!

Fusion Card Challenge - Happy Camper

Looking for a challenge to play today?  Check out Fusion Card Challenge!   Fusion is a fun and unique place to play because the challenge has options.  You can work with the inspiration photo, or you can work from the sketch.  If you're feeling inspired you can "fuse" them together on your design.    Here's the inspiration for this time!

I think this one is perfect for the Labor Day Holiday.  Maybe you're sneaking off to your favorite camp site this weekend or going on a road trip!  It's time for a quick summer fling before the weather changes!

So what do you love this time?  The funky trailer in the desert?   How about that big cactus or the fun colors - red and teal?   Not loving the photo?  No worries!  Just work with the sketch!   I focused on the camper and made this card...
The paper and all the embellishments (except the pin) are from Simple Stories Cabin Fever Collection.
Simple Stories has printed die cut images called "Bits and Pieces" that are ready to work with.  They also offer images cut from chipboard with an adhesive back so they make great dimensional accents.  The simple sentiment "Think Outside" is a sticker that is included in the 12" pack or sold separately as a sticker sheet.

The top left of the card looked a bit empty to me so I added a Tim Holtz Memo Pin with a gem stuck in the center to balance the heavy pattern paper on the right side of the card.
Need a little more inspiration to get your mojo going?  Head on over to the Fusion Card Challenge Page where you'll find projects from our talented design team, and information on how to link up your own design!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Tupelo Designs LLC - Magical Day!

Happy Friday!  Another quick week here!  This time of year is always a little crazy isn't it?  I'm having trouble getting used to who is home for dinner and when.. I miss the lazy summer days when everyone showed up at the same time. Finally it's the weekend!
Have you noticed how popular unicorns have become again?  I had a huge collection of these as a pre-teen and I still love them today!  This one is from Neat and Tangled called Magical Day!  You can find lots of different Unicorns at Tupelo Designs LLC too!  They have the Reverse Confetti Wishes, Lawn Fawn Winter Unicorn, Concord &9th Unicorn Awesomeness, Waffle Flower Stitched Unicorn, and Pinkfresh Studio Unicorn Dreams!  And that's only SOME of the unicorns!
I inked mine with Memento ink and Copic Markers.  The background was created using Spun Sugar distress ink.  I topped an inky area with a Stitched Oval Frame from My Favorite Things.
A sprinkle of stars in pink from Queen and Company Sequins Toppings add some shine and sparkle.
Feel like going shopping? I sure hope you'll try Tupelo Designs LLC! They have free shipping every single day.. no coupon required (USA ONLY). Freshly Made Sketches - Mermaid Kisses

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you're having a great day!  Today I'm playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge!  I love a sketch because it takes away so much of the guess work in a design.  I just study the sketch and think of what stamp set to use with it.

This sketch is fun and easy!  I think it would work with just about any theme or set you might have.

I'm working with the Reverse Confetti Mermaid Kisses set.  I haven't used my Sand Dollar die too much and I thought it would look great representing the circle in the sketch.  I cut it from cream and tan card stock.

The background was created by inking up a panel of card stock with Tumbled Glass Distress ink.  I used a Clarity Stencil brush to keep it soft and even.  Next I layered on the Leaf Lattice Stencil and inked it with Salty Ocean.  I placed the stencil horizontal to look more like ocean waves or fish scales.   Next I splattered the panel with water and then some watered down Salty Ocean.

I inked the images with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them with Copic Markers.  A few gems like the pearl in the shell center, and a sprinkle of sequins adds the perfect shine!
I have lots of these mermaids colored - some are blonde, others are brunette.  I though the gold hair was the most striking against the blue background.  I hope she makes you smile!

Pretty Little Studio - You Are Awesome!

I hope you're having a great day! Sometimes I'm not feeling so motivated to craft and I need a little kick start! No worries! Pretty Little Studio to the rescue! Every Tuesday you'll find a photo inspiration that will get your mojo going!

Here's the inspiration for this week! I love lots of things about this.. the Birthday wishes, the mixed fonts, the clean design, and oh yes!!! the colors! Here's what I made inspired by this graphic!
The Pretty Little Studio Beautiful Day Collection was my go to for this one! I stared with a aqua stripe Journaling card from the Currently pack. It was the perfect size when layed horizontally on my card base. The top half of the card base is the Sprinkles pattern.
Next I added a 4" Cambridge Doily to the card base. I split it in half and adhered half to each side of the card. Because the doily is thin and I didn't want the pattern to peek through the doily I adhered three doilies together to make it solid.
I wrapped some twine around the card front several times and secured it in the center. To cover the knot I adhered a die cut floral image in aqua from the Color Block Blooms with adhesive foam tape. The foliage fronds in grey are from the Walk in the Park die cut pack. The grey doesn't compete with the aqua and keeps the design monochromatic.
A bitty word sticker in the bottom corner says "hey there"!
And a sentiment from Walk In the Park attached to a safety pin hangs from the twine wrap. The finishing touch always is some sequins.. this time in Frosted Teal and Golden add the right amount of shine!
I hope you are inspired to create a beautiful confection fit for a birthday party today!

Pretty Little Studio - Hello Beautiful!

I hope you're having a great day! Today I've got a bright and bold card for you with lots of drama! This one just screams "Look at Me!!" I'm playing with the Beautiful Day Collection from Pretty Little Studio
I started with a background of Navy (Fun Times) and Lime (Joy Ride). I knew when I added the yellow edged bracket card from Fiesta pack that it would just jump off the page. The pack contains 8 bracket cards and a bonus of 20 die cut butterflies like the one on my card!
Next I added a bright fuchsia "Hello" sentiment from the Walk In The Park die cut pack. Now that the foundation of the card is complete it's time for embellishing!
The paper is printed on a heavy weight card stock with a soft lustre (shine) This photo shows that shine really well in the top right corner.
This collection has lots of die cuts to choose from! You can dress up this layout however you like! I added flowers from the Colorful Blooms die cut pack, foliage from the Greenery pack. A few sequins always make me happy too! I chose sequins in two shades of yellow - Sunsation and Buttered Corn.
This just makes me happy! I hope you're smiling too! Have a great day!
